Award Description
The first of its kind at UNK, this award was introduced in the fall of 2022. Faculty creativity and intellectual contributions to student learning and growth are vital traits of effective teaching regardless of delivery format, but even more critical in digital education. The Outstanding Innovation in Digital Teaching Award honors faculty who have implemented transformative teaching approaches leading to increased student learning, engagement, and success in digital education. Innovative teaching is defined broadly to allow nominees to articulate their unique innovative teaching and may include:
Award Criteria

The Outstanding Innovation in Digital Teaching Award honors faculty who have implemented transformative teaching approaches leading to increased student learning, engagement, and success in digital education. Innovative teaching is defined broadly to allow nominees to articulate their unique innovative teaching and may include:
- Shown/proven use of digital technology in transformative ways
- Shown/proven use of traditional technologies in creative ways
- Adoption of teaching strategies that scale through the use of technology
- Use of digital tools, techniques and strategies that promote engagement, equity and inclusion in the teaching and learning process
Award Criteria
- Full time faculty must be involved in teaching blended or fully online courses
- Graduate or undergraduate level online/blended teaching
- At least two years of experience with online/blended teaching at UNK

I've worked with the UNK Online Learning Design Team, the UNK Open Education Resources team, and the Academic Information Technology (ITS) team to create professional development for UNK faculty interested in taking advantage of the technology resources available on campus.
